What is a non-union?

A non-union is a serious and debilitating complication of Orthopaedic Surgery that can occur following a fracture of any bone.

This complication involves the non-healing of the fracture even though it was treated correctly following the shutdown of the bone healing processes.

Non-union is mentioned when a fracture shows no visible signs of healing at least 6 months after the trauma or when the fracture cannot be healed without further external stimulus.
