The surgical procedure of extraction in asepsis and the treatment-preservation procedures have now reached consolidated safety levels so that grafting can be defined as safe.

All extractions are subjected to bacterial and viral coltures during extraction and before the graft as well as to the following tests: Hepatitis B (HBsAg) surface antigen; Hepatitis C (HCV) antibodies; HIV 1 and 2 antibodies; TPHA or another test that detects Treponemal antibodies.
